Impact or ‘drop testing’ for Cargo Barriers; this form of testing is a means of replicating the results of a frontal impact test for cars at 48.3km/h. The drop test rig (built in compliance with AS4034) has a capability of dropping a test mass from a height of up to 5.5m. Maximum test mass is around 200kg. Typically, most Cargo Barriers are tested at 60kg single mass, equating to approximately. 6000 joules of energy being applied to the Cargo Barrier at impact. For Penetration testing of cargo barriers we use an adjustable test frame in conjunction with a hydraulic ram, load cell and penetration force ram.
